I have been machine sewing since I was a young girl, and have had a love for fabrics my whole life. It is so much fun for me to pull various colored fabrics together and create something meaningful. 

My mother taught me how to sew. She made many matching outfits for her four daughters and has made many quilts throughout the years which she has shared with our family. I am so thankful for her gift of patience and her love for sewing that she shared with me.

Most of my products are unique and one of a kind. So, when you shop my website you'll discover some of my favorite things from handmade cosmetic bags, market totes, and travel bags to unique gifts with very special touches.

WHY OUR PASSION FOR CLOTHING PROTECTORS?

We get so many questions about what adult clothing protectors are and why we sell them. We love this question because this is something that is near and dear to our hearts and when we have the opportunity to share information about something that is not widely known but more common than people expect, we'll take it!

Several years ago, my sister Carolyn Allen, asked me to make a few clothing protectors (bibs) for her. After a few trial runs, we came up with a design that she likes and really works for her. I thought there might be a need for these clothing protectors for others who have difficulty with hand coordination.

WHAT IS ATAXIA? 
My sister and cousin both have Ataxia. The word “ataxia,” comes from the Greek word, “a taxis”
meaning “without order or incoordination”. Ataxia is a degenerative disease of the nervous
system. Many symptoms of Ataxia mimic those of being drunk, such as slurred speech, stumbling, falling, and incoordination. These symptoms are caused by damage to the cerebellum, the part of the brain that is responsible for coordinating movement.
Ataxia treatment involves a combination of medication to treat symptoms and therapy to improve quality of life. People affected by Ataxia may experience problems with using their fingers and hands, arms, legs, walking, speaking or moving their eyes.
Ataxia affects people of all ages. Age of symptom  onset can vary widely, from childhood to late adulthood.

Our family has been a Proud Supporter of NAF (National Ataxia Foundation) for many years. 

NAF is a membership supported nonprofit organization established in 1957 to help persons with Ataxia and their families. The Foundation’s primary purpose is to support Ataxia research, provide vital programs and services for Ataxia families, and help in the search for a cure. NAF is the only organization in the United States dedicated to the disease that serves all types of Ataxia. NAF works closely with the world’s leading Ataxia researchers, promoting exchanges of ideas and innovation in Ataxia discovery.
